EEA Forum General Assembly 

The General Assembly of the EEA Forum was held in Bussels on 26th and 27th November 2012. The MEDEEA partners were invited to the Awarding Ceremony of the European Energy Award Gold Cities in Brussels on the 26 of November 2012. A workshop on the topic "eea in climatic warm regions" was held on the 27 of November. Dr. Roberta Casapietra, Project Coordinator, presented the adaptation of the management tool for the MEDEEA pilot project. Please check here for further information. MEDEEA 2nd Interregional Conference for Municipalities

The 2nd interregional conference for the municipalities involved in the MEDEEA project took place in Malta on the 7th – 8th November 2012. The aim of this conference was to facilitate mutual learning and sharing of information and experiences on eea®application, as well as on the various financing and other implementation support opportunities. Ten municipalities received the European Energy Award® during the award giving ceremony which took place on the 7th November. The awarded municipalities are: Isla and Pembroke from Malta, Dolceacqua, Mendatica and Neirone from Italy, Beltinci, Ljutomer and Markovci from Slovenia, Cieza and Puerto Lumbreras from Spain.

Ligurian eea ® mentor municipalities meet their mentee municipalities from MED countries

Murcian and Slovenian municipalities that have just entered the eea® process in the framework of MEDEEA met and exchanged experience with their Ligurian mentors. The eea® Ligurian municipalities of Albengaand Celle Ligure hosted in July the mayors from the Spanish municipalities of  Archena (18.000 inhab.), Puerto Lumbreras (12.964 inhab.), Torrepacheco (32.000 inhab.) and Yecla (34.161 inhab.) accompanied by the member of the Spanish parliament Mr Teodoro Garcia. “Energy experts” from 4 Slovenian municipalities – Hodoŝ (360.000 inhab.), Markovci (3.800 inhab.), Ptuj (24.500 inhab.) and Nazarje (2.700 inhab.) visited in July their mentor Ligurian municipalities of Ne and Varese Ligure.

The mayor and vice-mayor of the eea mentor municipality of Toirano, in Liguria, on 14th September 2012 visited Algarve where they met their mentee municipalities.

Presentation of MEDEEA Project at IEE National Info Day in Malta

The MEDEEA project was presented at the IEE National Info Day in Malta, on the 2nd of March, at Valletta. The event targeted representatives from the public sector, national authorities, private companies, NGOs, local councils, business associations and consultancies interested in the energy sector.  Representatives from various national authorities attended this event, in particular from the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce, the Malta EU Steering and Action Committee as well as from banks and private institutions. From this event the public had the opportunity to learn about procedures for applying for new projects related to energy efficiency and how to get funding for the implementation of these projects.
